Russia created an additional document to Outer Space Treaty

27.12.17

Russian Federation believes that no minerals that were mined in space should be appropriated by any country in the world. Representatives of the country are to lobby this idea at the upcoming meeting of the UN Committee.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with Roskosmos created an implementation agreement to Outer Space Treaty. The experts will present it at the meeting. If other countries support the agreement, the assignment of space objects will be prohibited.

In general, the document is an agreement between the countries on the observance of the law. It outlines key provisions on the norms of space exploration:

  • Equality in access to outer space;
  • Prohibition of assignment of space objects;
  • No opportunities for discrimination.

The document will contribute to implementation of regulations by all the participating countries.
