ROSCOSMOS to build a residential complex for 12 people on the Moon

21.06.16

A lunar base intended for 12 people will be created by TsNIIMash (Central Engineering Research Institute Russia). The project is already under development, and its design is ready.

Originally expedition will last for a month, and the crew will consist of 2-4 people, but it will expand in the course of time.

The exact location has not been selected yet, but it is known that the base will be accommodated at the south pole of the Moon.

It is the safety of landing of passenger and cargo ships that defines the location of base construction. And the residential complex will be built at the same time as the energy module.

The idea of lunar mining has been developed within the Concept of Russian lunar program, in which such organizations as RAS (the Russian Academy of Sciences), ROSCOSMOS and MSU are engaged.
