The recent launch of the light-weight Electron rocket was successful, Rocket Lab reported on Twitter. The startup launched its rocket in New Zealand on January 21 at 4:43 Moscow time. This is the second company’s attempt.
The main reason for the previous failure: the head part did not go into orbit because of the telemetry equipment error.
Rocket Lab had an attempt to launch the device in late spring of 2017, but a couple of minutes after the start, the control center could not get telemetry data. It was decided to terminate the flight.
The second attempt was planned for December 2017 during the 10-day launch window. Later it was decided to launch the rocket in January 2018.
