Everyone knows that Donald Trump is a successful businessman, but his extremely businesslike approach to governing the state is becoming massive. The White House reportedly intends to hand over the part of the ISS, which belongs to the United States, to private ownership, The Washington Post reports.
According to the official Administration’s statement, the step will save the budget of the United States. The White House plans to stop federal support for ISS by 2025, however, without abandoning the station completely. USA spends up to $5 billion for the station yearly, and the total amount of investments has already exceeded 100 billion.
Some of the US ministers and members of the Congress opposed to such plans, saying that it is inexpedient, senseless, and simply illegal. Critics asked to explain in detail to them, how the station will operate, if private individuals will own it by half. Donald Trump does not comment on the situation.
At the same time, there were those who supported the initiative. Buzz Aldrin, who was one of the first people to land on the Moon, believes that the refusal to support the ISS will allow US to focus on exploring Mars. The Russian officials, however, believe such a decision will allow Russia and China to take the leading positions in space.
